Reading opens your mind's horizon to all spheres of life. It gives you what money cannot give you. It shapes and transforms one from a mediocre to an influential and great person in life.

It brings the thoughts of intellectuals and writers and lay them open on the altar of your table for one to sacrifice their thoughts and make them living for the good of the reader and the world at large.

Reading brings transformation and development to individuals and nations.

Reading has shaped my head and heart. Words are not just water on a ducks back,it's a treasured bone of a dog,who chews and chews on it relentlessly till he has gotten all it has from it. Leadership requires reading.

Reading gives leaders an opportunity to learn from the experiences of others. Leadership comes with it a myriad of challenges others have faced and have written about. So a "reader leader" is almost always not clueless when he finds himself on cross roads of decision making.

A leader is one who influences his followers and so needs to be a good communicator. Reading makes one able to clearly and succinctly express ideas.

Growth is perhaps the most important attribute leaders should possess. This is anchored mainly on a leader's ability to learn - mostly by reading. Reading is thus a leader's most important attribute. It supports growth. It's the easiest way to get and digest information. It builds a knowledge base, increases capacity, and keeps the leader on a path of excellence.

Reading is the one tool capable of transforming a leader's ability to make an impact. It inspires, mainly by gleaning on other leaders' experiences. It allows the leader to tap into the skills of past leaders.

Through reading one can become a better leader. It's the simplest too for self & capacity development.

And for the leader, he discovers himself in the footprints of others. Not necessarily to be like them, but to become a better version of who he is. Self-discovery is key for leaders. Reading unlocks that.

3. Readers are likely to be leaders. And with reading in decline, readers possess a comparative advantage in today’s business and political environments.

Reading is one of the most efficient ways to acquire information, and leaders need a lot of general information to keep perspective and seize opportunities. But reading does more than give us a toolbox of ideas. It actually upgrades our analytical tools, especially our judgment and problem-solving abilities.

When we read, especially widely and deeply, we pick up language proficiency that transfers across the board, including speaking and writing.

Good day sir

I am in jos.

Reading is an important attribute for leaders sir

Infact it can catalyze insight, innovation and effectiveness in every leader.First, reading increases the verbal intelligence of a leader which must be one of his/her strength.what i mean is every good leader must know how to speak well in public as it is one of the basis upon which leaders are selected or seen and addressed by the name. Secondly, by leading, it is always assumed you know it all Even if you don't, you should atleast know something about anything, just anything. That can only be seen in people who read whatsoever book that comes their way. As someone will always say me; read not for yourself but for those who do not have the privilege and opportunity to. Sir when you read everything, somehow you solve every problem period!

Last amongst others is leaders read so as to be informed. There is this adage that says "if you are not informed, then you are deformed " it is true because leaders who fail woefully in their capacity failed to read books. it is obvious that some of the mistakes leaders make are already existing mistakes. What is more disgusting about this is historians have wrote about it and how to mitigate and overcome the same problem but some leaders will not just read. With these few points sir I write to assure you that it is a compulsory task that "leaders must be readers". Thank you.

Reading is a form of learning.

It is important to leaders because those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

First, I'm in Jos

Secondly, I've subscribed to the newsletter. Not just that, but I also share the posts I consider very important on my social media handle

Thirdly, Proverbs 4:7 reads "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding". To add just a little, the success and fame of Abraham Lincoln came chiefly through reading and studies(and many great leaders). And any leader or aspiring leader must understand the place of reading in effective leadership......it is non negotiable.

It goes with the saying leaders are readers.i use to see that statement as a mere say,but as I advance in age I have come to concur to that, and yes reading is an important attribute of a leader not just reading but the application of lessons learned that will be when reading is completed.Reading with no application is void.

Reading is an attribute of leadership for the following reasons;

1.exposes one to history

2.it points out mistake and error thereby presenting a leader an opportunity to act differently and positive.

3.it provide an opportunity to learn, unlearn and relearn

4.reading sharpens and broaden the mind of a leader on various ways and tactics to handle issues.

5.Reading expose a leader to dynamic ways of leadership

The list can go on because those black ink on those white sheets, holds knowledge and history of good and bad,so he who goes through much of them gains knowledge for a better world

Readers are most likely to be leaders. And when one stopped reading s/he should stop leading.

Leaders should read books to expand their mind, to broaden their reason, to engage with different strains of thought.

The difference is clear. The saying, 'leaders are readers' is no fluke. Look at the countries with leaders who read and compare it with those whose leaders do not 🇳🇬. You can see and judge for yourself.

So, yes, reading is important to a leader. The thoughts of a reading leader are far, far greater than the mere expressions of a non-reading leader.

We see it all around us.

This was a good post. Great read.

Book as a mentor

Again, you do not have all the time to make all the mistakes by yourself.

A leader should read to avoid the mistakes of others before them. Reading also provides shortcuts. It serves as a guide- a light to illuminate their path.

Reading is as important as a leadership position. To lead, you must know, and knowing is an effect of leading.

Leading as an attribute for leaders isn't a choice.
