Each time I attend my local church for any service or church program, I am reminded of how the world has changed and a lot of people have refused to change.
No story illustrates more how the world has changed than this between my younger sister and her school administrators.
One time a teacher flogged some students for an unjustifiable reason. My Sister was the head girl. She told the teacher that the students had done nothing wrong. He was incensed at her and flogged her too. He flogged her and asked her to apologize to him, she refused. He did the same about three times. She didnโt apologize at all. He reported her to the school Principal. The principal flogged her and told her to apologize again, this girl will not bulge. At that stage, they called my dad. He came and he told her to apologize too. This girl refused. Thatโs when they called me. You know, this ideology that big brothers can fix things and fix their younger ones. I came after they returned home, my dad explained everything, and then I went to her in private and asked what happened. She explained the events to me too and that was when I saw her perspectives. Folks, I didnโt discipline her again, I stood up and left. By the end of that school session, I took them to chill at Southern Fried Chicken.
It was her reward for standing up for what she believed.
This generation will not take things to hook, line, and sinker. They want to know โwhyโ. This is why as a parent, you need to be knowledgeable. The whole idea of โdonโt askโ, โyou donโt need to knowโ will not hold for this generation.
The change has already happened. You canโt resist it. You canโt change it. Wise people get on the change wagon and determine its direction.
They want us to be knowledgeable but yet blame our inquisitiveness.
Kudos to the big brother๐ค
